This morning began with some trouble in the city and the situation rapidly deteriorated when crowd began growing and the police triedd to prevent them from reaching the city centre. While the crowds were gathering, (one particular group was very near us, about 10 minutes on the main highway that we use daily); their leaders were in a meeting with Desmond Tutu. Eventually, the leaders called off the rally for today and postponed it to next Tuesday.
On campus, Tony initiated a prayer meeting and almost everyone on campus attended the prayer meeting. We all called upon the Lord for our beloved nation. There will be another one this evening...we will continue to pray till peace returns. The University has also decided to delay registration for a week, so officially, we will begin the semester next Thursday. The goverment has similarly delayed the beginning of school till next week. We haven't heard from the girls' school yet but I am quite sure they will delay that too....
Having lived in this country for so long, we have friends all over and we continue to receive distressing news- houses are being burnt, people fleeing for their lives and senseless killings. A faculty member who is a single lady had police escort into one of the slums to rescue 4 of her relative's children. While she has stock up food for herself, she wasn't prepared to feed another 4 kids. We are thankful that we can share some of our eggs with her.
We are grateful that we are able to get an extra cooking gas tank today for our stove, altho we had to pay more than we usually have to. We are running low in cash and Tony will brave the streets again tomorrow to get some from the bank or the machines.
Our hearts are lifted as we know that payers from all over the world are being into Kenya right now, we believe that even through this chaos, revival will break out and the Lord Jesus exalted. Please continue to stand with us.
Some of you has emailed me about sending money so that we can have enough funds to stock up some food and supplies for orphanage and also to help others in need. If you are interested, you can send me an email and I will be able to give you the details on how to do that.
Dear friends, you cannot imagine how your prayers, love and encouragements has helped us in these very challenging and uncertain times. We appreciate all of you!
