We had great services on Sunday. Tony was invited to preach on the Holy Spirit in one of the oldest Kenya AG church. The response of the people were incredible. Many were touched and healed. Kathryn took pictures of the services but I will have to post them later as I don't know where her camera is!
Yesterday, we received two text messages on our phone concerning riots all over the city. The "mungkiki" an outlawed cult group, kind of like the mafia, were causing riots in response to the murder of the wife of their leader who is currently in prison. Unfortunately, they also run most of the "matatus" (mini buses) in the city. Many people were affected by the riots - some are unable to get to work, or to school. However, the situation calmed down later in the afternoon.
The President finally named the Cabinet - things were getting very tensed the last week over this issue and mass action was once again threatened. We are relieved that this is now over and hopefully, everyone can move on. The sad part is that this Cabinet - over 40 of them will cost more and once again, it would be the ordinary Kenyans who would have to pay for it. Life is difficult enough as it is....please continue to pray. Poverty is such an oppresion on the people.
My Congo trip continues to evolve. Instead of a 5 day trip, it is now a weeklong trip as the flights to Butembo happens only weekly! Tells you how remote Butembo is! The small group of pastors whom I am meeting with for ministry and encouragement has now grown to over 100 pastors. I will of course, be ministering without microphone in all these services. Bethuel, our Congolese pastor advised me to take care of my voice since I will be using it quite a bit!! So please pray.
As I prepare for my trip in the midst of many of responsiblities, I do get stressed out and overwhelmed. An American friend of mine gave me a BIG box of these...
WOOHOO...............................!!!!!!!!!! My favorite way to de-stress!! Reese's are my favorite candy. I will never understand how a combination of poor quality peanut butter and poor quality chocolate can taste so WONDERFUL!!
