Birthday, Ministry and Band

Last weekend was a busy one for us, coming to think of it, every weekend is busy for us! Vickie's band had a concert on Friday evening, Saturday, we took Tony out to his favorite restaurant to celebrate his birthday and on Sunday, I ministered in Family Banquet of one of our Kenya AG churches. The girls and I got Tony this pretty card and a pop up Titanic book. Tony is a Titanic fan - he is fascinated by the Titanic story and had even preached sermons using the Titanic! I will have to do a separate post on that book. This card wishes him almost everything he could possibly want!! Although the card wished him "Peace" the girls joked that the card is lacking one special thing that Daddy might enjoy "Peace AND Quiet"!! There's not much QUIET in our busy household!!
These other cards came from friends. These two are locally made cards. This one uses African fabric.

And this one is made with wire, beads and recycled paper. Creative huh?
Can you see Vickie in the picture below? She is second from the right on the first row. We are so proud how quickly Vickie is learning the flute. She is the only six grader flutist (??) who is promoted to Intermediate Band.
The last video turned out so well, I am tempted to post the video of her playing in the band.
Elizabeth Karanja, the Women's Ministry chaired the service. Pastor Pius is sitting next to me, his church is one of the largest Kenya AG church.

I shared for about 40 minutes on "Effective Families". I challenged the men to take leadership in their homes amongst other things. I was very encouraged by the interest shown by the attendees during my sharing.


As always, we like to give the people opportunity to respond to the Word of God. So many responded. Praise the Lord.I have a long "to do" list today ...

1. Get pictures taken for my visa to Congo

2. Two counselling sessions today, probably will take a total of about 3 hours depending on how my "clients" are doing...

3. Cooking for eight people tonight - having some good friends over with their two teenage boys - yikes! My menu include roast chicken, cola ribs -major YUM!, Chinese mushrooms, stir fry vegetable and steam rice. I made the dessert last night - Lemon Squares....

4. Meet with Bethuel to fnalise Congolese meetings.

Laundry, dishes, etc......

Wow, you guys are really busy with so many things going on.

Vickie looks more n more like Kat, cannot tell them apart in the pics you posted.

Can't wait for your return so that we can meet again.........

A clean bill of Health!

We have been busy with different appointments.....the girls got their vaccination, Tony and I had a general checkup - cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and several other health issues checked. We are basically healthy. Tony needs to have a minor surgical procedure (on his back) which we still have to work on - finding the surgeon,etc. We also went to the dentist today and the girls and I have NO cavities!!!!! The dentist did some cleaning for us but Tony did have to have a filling done. All in all, the Phangs are in pretty good health - Praise the Lord!! We are also so grateful to our doctor and dentist for giving us their services so lovingly and generously- we are so bless! Another friend (we kinda met on this blog:-) got us rooms in a hotel in Penang, a holiday island- kind of! Woohoo!!!! Getting Ready for yet another trip!

Before I forget, I wanted the friends who have left comments on this blog to know that I read your comments as they are automatically sent to my email address. I tried replying to the address in the emails but it doens't get to you - it just redirects me to this blog again. Anyways, I want you to know that I appreciate the comments- tells me someone is reading what I am writing - I wonder sometimes!! Ok, two evenings ago I had another invite to join an evangelist to Goma, also in DRC. They are doing a crusade there- I cannot tell you how much I want to join them but I can't - not this time anyways. We are in the midst of preparing to return to Malaysia for two months to reconnect with churches and friends who supports our work here and also to give our report. We are also trusting God to connect with more people and churches who are interested in our work here. We need to raise so much more to empower and release more laborers to a ripen harvest in AFrica.
