This is the last camp we visited. Each camp has about 10-15 families. This baby was born two days ago and she's a girl. The mother asked me for my name and named her after me. She's white like me!!
Among the bulk of donated clothes we have in the sack was this little pjs from Baby Gap!! So now we have a pgymy baby girl in Beni, DR Congo named Christine wearing Baby Gap...how incredible is that???????? Talk about globalisation!!
Isn't she cute? Doesn't she look like me????? Just a whole bunch cuter! By the way, African babies are usually very fair when they are newly born. They get their pigmentation later.
We found many kids in this particular camp with these bulging tummies. these kids must have some kind of worm and deficiency. I am planning to consult with a doctor here in Nairobi and find a way to send them some medications.
This little boy probably never had tasted bread....you don't find bread growing in the forest, do you?
This beautiful little pygmy lady....if you click on the photo and see the bigger photo, you will see water on her pretty face. She wasn't crying....a group of them were inside the forest when we came to distribute the soaps and salt. They came running in the rain to chase after us in our car. We saw them in our mirror and stopped and waited for them and gave them the soap and salt.
This is one of their houses. I mentioned earlier that one of the ladies lost her baby that day and I went inside her house to minister to her as she was so heartbroken and didn't want to come out. The chief saw me struggling to get in to her little house - I literally have to crawl inside. He then told one of the people with me that he must build a "GuestHouse" for me!! So, I have a pygmy baby and a guesthouse in Beni!!! I am a blessed woman. My guesthouse would probably look like this one :-)

Our distribution of gifts...
This red sack was full of clothes that some American church had sent. Some of the clothes were sized 20XXX (like super extra extra large!). I saw a sweatshirt that could have fitted a pygmy family of six!!! The clothes were so huge for these precious little people. But they were happy to have them anyways. They used to be completely naked....they are now dressed as they are exposed to visitors like us - who feels better visiting them when they are clothed - no matter how wrong the sizes are!!!
