KENYA!!!! (PART 1)

We left for Kenya end of January for a month long missions trip. We were beyond excited as this is our first trip back as a couple since we life in June 2009. We were looking forward to meeting with missionaries, friends, and church members and the ministries that we will be part of during our time in Kenya. These are some of the pictures and special moments we had that I thought might interest my friends who read this blog :)

Tony preached both services at Nairobi Christian Centre, the church of the General Superintendent of Kenya. Kathryn was dedicated as a baby in this church! We also met several bible school students who had studied with us in the layman bible school we started way back in 1993. It was such a special moment when they came up to greet us after all these years.

We had a great visit with Lucy and David, the directors of the orphanage. Lucy had a hip replacement several years ago and we were so glad that she is finally pain free and happy and smiling!

Always good to see some of the kids during their recess time. God has continue to prove His faithfulness to these smiling faces as we see His provision for them in the midst of challenges.

The 3rd Masai women conference. I had been there for all the 3 conferences and am continually touched by the hunger these women has for the Lord. Often when we do women's conference at home, we have to "pump" the women with door prizes, special worship music, etc. These masai women, many who travelled many many kilometres to the camp, walked into the campsite already "pumped" - praying and singing! Ready to hear the Word and ready to seek His face. What a blessing to be part of the ministry team to them.

The guards at the camp found this baby Eeland when he was one day old just outside the camp. They brought him into the camp or he would be eaten. At the time of this picture he was only 5 day old but look at how big he is! I was told that he would be at least 1000lbs full grown. Anyways, of the ten tents in our camp, he chose to be resting by my tent!!! He wanted a selfie so I obliged :)

The camp was surrounded by so many animals - giraffes, zebras, thomson gazelles, and so many more. It is so awesome, almost healing to be so near nature.

The ministry who hosted and organised the conference, Mike and Marigold Cheshire, also slaughtered a cow and 5 goats for the conference. These are freshly slaughtered meat. You don't get meat any fresher than these!

This is the Women's Leader for the Masai district. We met her during the first conference. She pastors a church of over 100 women. An inspiration and a blessing!

Me and the baby again...he's so cute! He legs are not very strong yet and he's still being bottle fed. Camp members who attempted to bottle feed him found out that it was a rather messy affair and are drenched with milk! I didn't try it, I was content just to pet him :)

Such a poser! I think he likes the camera! I would too if I was cute like him!

I wanted to end the first part of my Kenya blog with this inspiring video of the women singing and worship. I know you will enjoy it!
Stay tune for part 2!

He did this the entire time that Tony was in Malaysia.. poor baby! He loves Tony! Awwww......(the girls' favorite expression!) Kat took some pictures around campus....pretty eh? This huge pine tree is on our front yard. This is one of Vickie's teachers. The middle school was raising funds for some social projects and he challenged them if they raised a certain amount he would shaved off his beard and if they raised even more money, he would shave his hair as well! Brave man and they did raised the funds!! Too bad I didn't get the 'after' picture! Vickie is on the far left, as a stage hand during one of their drama production. She ...

A clean bill of Health!

We have been busy with different appointments.....the girls got their vaccination, Tony and I had a general checkup - cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and several other health issues checked. We are basically healthy. Tony needs to have a minor surgical procedure (on his back) which we still have to work on - finding the surgeon, etc. We also went to the dentist today and the girls and I have NO cavities!!!!! The dentist did some cleaning for us but Tony did have to have a filling done. All in all, the Phangs are in pretty good health - Praise the Lord!! We are also so grateful to our doctor and dentist for giving us their services so lovingly and generously- we are so bless! Another friend (we kinda met on this blog:-) got us rooms in a hotel in Penang, a holiday island- kind of! Woohoo!!!! We will get to have a vacation after our ministry time in Ipoh - we are so looking forward to that. Last evening, we took Tony's mom and sister out for a meal and visited with the...

Getting Ready for yet another trip!

Before I forget, I wanted the friends who have left comments on this blog to know that I read your comments as they are automatically sent to my email address. I tried replying to the address in the emails but it doens't get to you - it just redirects me to this blog again. Anyways, I want you to know that I appreciate the comments- tells me someone is reading what I am writing - I wonder sometimes!! Ok, two evenings ago I had another invite to join an evangelist to Goma, also in DRC. They are doing a crusade there- I cannot tell you how much I want to join them but I can't - not this time anyways. We are in the midst of preparing to return to Malaysia for two months to reconnect with churches and friends who supports our work here and also to give our report. We are also trusting God to connect with more people and churches who are interested in our work here. We need to raise so much more to empower and release more laborers to a ripen harvest in AFrica. I am so overwhelm wit...
