MALAYSIA!

It's been over a month since we landed "home" in Malaysia - 1st June! Lots has happened since then, firstly, we set up house from scratch....it was amazing to us the choices we have here in Malaysia and the prices here were at least 2/3 cheaper than what we were used to in Nairobi. Eating out is so affordable and so tasty as well! Goodbye to my cooking days - YAY!!! Secondly, we bought a car, Tony has one provided for him but we needed a second car for me to get the girls to school and back and of course to shop!! Talking about shopping, I never thought I could be tired of shopping but I have to admit, that after the first two weeks of outfitting the house, I was shopped out!! I have since learn to drive to a few places. Tony officially began work 1 July but he was in the thick of church ministry the same week we arrived. I too was asked to teach 4 Fridays for the July Bible month, a ladies meeting and and one Sunday service in July and to co-speak with Tony for the ch...

Safari - at last!

We arrived in Kenya in October 1992. Our girls were borned in 1994 and 1996 and all these years, we have never once been on safari in the Mara- that's right, not even once!! The girls do get to go to different mini safaris as part of their school activities and as a family, we have always preferred a beach holiday...yup, we are all beach people! Besides, the prices are always so high! Since we are leaving, we decided that we must at least be on safari once as a family. A great friend, Marigold, got us an out of this world kind of deal and we were able to go on a weeklong safari and enjoyed every minute of it! Here's some pictures... The incredible scenery and landscapes of the great Masai Mara. This huge baboon was climbing up the water tower! pretty bored looking lioness, we were only a few feet away albeit safe and sound in our van! beautiful rainbow after a heavy downpour Our guide, Tita, drove us about 45 minutes up to a mountain to see these buffalos, I f...

Happy Mother's Day !

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Tony started the celebration with me last Wednesday by taking me out to a nice bistro kind of restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day; especially when I don't have to fix it and when I have lots of choices! I love lingering over a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper and just having a slow start to the morning...a perfect way to begin the day, if you ask me! Then he got me this bouquet of gorgeous flowers, and then a meal out...he has to keep this up till my birthday on the 19th!! It's like a Jewish festival..and I LOVE IT! I didn't take pictures but the girls got me cards and jewellery...and Kathryn told me that I am worth approximately $200,000 annually for my "mom" job! That felt good! This was a Sunday service at a local church and it was a special service for us as we are telling the congregation that we are leaving for our new assignment in Malaysia.... :-(( Af...
