Foodie Weekend!

This past weekend, we had an opportunity to spend a couple of days in the city. Kuala Lumpur, is the capital of Malaysia and is a really fun city - beautiful buildings, and amazing food! Since not all of you reading this blog has been to Malaysia, I thought I share some pictures with you to show you the food paradise I live in!

We ordered this CARNIVORE PLATTER....it was a HUGE platter and it took the three of us quite a while to work at it. Even then, we ended up packing half of it back to our room!
They also gave us this cute apron to wear while we dug into those yummy sticky ribs!
These pictures are from the food court at a mall - it has the most amazing collection of hawker food or street food. The choices are amazing. It was almost a torture to have to choose one!  We had breakfast both mornings at this food court - I feel so spoiled!
This is from another mall, and it is a seafood bar serving up fresh oysters. I have not seen this before, I checked the menu and it was super pricey. Its a good thing I don't enjoy fresh oysters.
This is not in the city, but 5 minutes from our home. Its called Hawker's Delight. Once again, it has an amazing selection to choose from - chicken rice, noodles of all kinds and sorts, dim sum, toast and sausages, curry, etc. How do I choose, how do I choose???
We ordered this briyani rice with mutton curry and we paid the hefty price of US$3.00 or for my Kenyan friends, it was KSH 240!
This noodles comes in a nice thick tasty gravy with chicken and shrimps and cost the same as the rice.

 Now you understand why I call Malaysia a food paradise! I have travelled to quite a few places and wherever I go, I enjoy the food in that country - whether it was in the rainforest of the Congo, Kenya, Singapore, Thailand, Macau or America. However, whenever I return from my trips, I am always ready to enjoy the food Malaysia has to offer. I guess one of the main reason I appreciate Malaysian food is because it is so affordable and that we have so much variety.

I hope this post will inspire my non-Malaysian friends to visit me soon and for my fellow Malaysians - may we continue to enjoy our food paradise!!!

Many of my aunts, uncles and cousins consider me to be American and westernized since I've been away from Malaysia for so long, but you can't take the food culture out of the former Malaysian! I'm getting hungry already! I'm also very blessed with a wife, although Caucasian, loves Malaysian food! Even durian!

Our girls have not learn to enjoy durian yet- we have not yet given up hope on them!

A clean bill of Health!

We have been busy with different appointments.....the girls got their vaccination, Tony and I had a general checkup - cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and several other health issues checked. We are basically healthy. Tony needs to have a minor surgical procedure (on his back) which we still have to work on - finding the surgeon,etc. We also went to the dentist today and the girls and I have NO cavities!!!!! The dentist did some cleaning for us but Tony did have to have a filling done. All in all, the Phangs are in pretty good health - Praise the Lord!! We are also so grateful to our doctor and dentist for giving us their services so lovingly and generously- we are so bless! Another friend (we kinda met on this blog:-) got us rooms in a hotel in Penang, a holiday island- kind of! Woohoo!!!! We will get to have a vacation after our ministry time in Ipoh - we are so looking forward to that. Last evening, we took Tony's mom and sister out for a meal and visited with the...

Getting Ready for yet another trip!

Before I forget, I wanted the friends who have left comments on this blog to know that I read your comments as they are automatically sent to my email address. I tried replying to the address in the emails but it doens't get to you - it just redirects me to this blog again. Anyways, I want you to know that I appreciate the comments- tells me someone is reading what I am writing - I wonder sometimes!! Ok, two evenings ago I had another invite to join an evangelist to Goma, also in DRC. They are doing a crusade there- I cannot tell you how much I want to join them but I can't - not this time anyways. We are in the midst of preparing to return to Malaysia for two months to reconnect with churches and friends who supports our work here and also to give our report. We are also trusting God to connect with more people and churches who are interested in our work here. We need to raise so much more to empower and release more laborers to a ripen harvest in AFrica.
